Headlines: Five Ways to Reduce Workplace Stress! Ten Ways to manage Stress at Work! Stress Management Tips for Executives! Every time you turn around, there is someone giving advice on reducing stress. It’s starting to get stressful.
Stress, more noticeable now in the lives of busy women than ever before, takes a toll mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially. It is a plague that reaches out and squeezes the happiness and health out of us. Increasingly, surveys and physicians report that women turn to medication and other unhealthy behaviors because of stress. For example, a recent study found a 12.5 per cent increase annually in prescriptions for benzodiazapenes—medicines that are used to treat panic disorder.
What’s a girl to do? Don’t panic! Just stop wasting time with programs that don’t work. The TM technique is going to give you deep rest and decrease fatigue, stress, depression and anxiety. It increases energy, intelligence, memory, creativity, and self-concept. It reduces high blood pressure and other serious risk factors for heart attacks and strokes. The American Heart Association has noted the research on the success of TM in reducing hypertension. In the business world, men are continually touting the results of TM practice publicly. Just recently, there has been a spate of articles on the topic, including:
- Bloomberg Business: “I react to volatile markets much more calmly now”
- CNN: “Wall Street says ‘Om’”
- Manhattan Magazine: “Transcendental Inspiration”
- Forbes: “To Become Wealthier, Do What You Do Best”
- Financial Times: “Meditate to sharpen your assertive edge”
So take notice: what’s good for so many ganders in the workplace is also extremely beneficial for the geese.
One successful business woman wrote about her benefits from TM practice, “It has given me a way to recharge my creativity, sharpen my focus, boost my energy, calm my nerves, and sustain me. Over the years, I’ve become less an aggressive, hard-edged businesswoman and more a balanced, thoughtful leader.”
Another woman in the C-Suite wrote, “What I really needed was a way to come back into myself, quiet my mind a little bit so that I could focus. TM practice settles me down and helps me be more organized.”
TM will reduce stress and other imbalances that are inhibiting your fulfillment, but it also enhances all aspects of life because it works at the fundamental level of the mind and body, helping you unfold your full potential. Ready, set, grow.
