Behind the Scenes at TM for Women

ften women want to know more about our organization and history so here is some information that I hope you will find interesting.

The Transcendental Meditation technique is a specific form of meditation that was introduced worldwide by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi through his revival of this ancient practice. Maharishi brought the seven step TM program to the west in the 1960s. TM was considered revolutionary in its mechanics because until then most people thought meditation had to be difficult and was only something practiced by recluses, whereas the TM technique is equally available to everyone and is effortless yet immediately effective.

Maharishi encouraged scientific research into the mechanics and benefits of Transcendental Meditation starting in the 1960s making research on TM the first research ever done on meditation. This elevated the understanding of meditation beyond being simply a subjective experience to show that it can be objectively verified. Even the earliest research showed that the experience during TM actually has corresponding hard measures that indicate a unique style of optimal brain functioning and physiological functioning.

TM gained popularity and caught the attention of people in a broad range of ages, cultures, religions, and occupations. TM is now one of the most-widely practiced programs for self-development and among the most widely researched meditation techniques, with over 360 peer-reviewed studies published about it.

Transcendental Meditation teachers are trained and certified in an intensive five month full time in-residence course and must fulfill specific requirements to be accepted to the course and pass a battery of tests to complete it. All certified TM teachers are listed with our national offices so every teacher’s credentials can be verified with us.

The TM course fee includes a lifetime follow-up program that enables every woman and girl who learns the technique to derive maximum benefit from then on. Fees pay for the operations that are required by law for a non-profit educational organization to be maintained. Certified teachers and administrators are usually compensated at levels under the level of school teachers. The U.S. organization is audited annually by an independent CPA firm. In the USA,the TM organization for Women is a 501(C)3 non-profit educational organization.

Maharishi established the women’s TM teaching wing in 2007 to raise the quality of life of every woman, mother, and child in 192 countries. Women are often more comfortable participating in a program administered and taught by other women who, naturally, understand women’s issues.

One integral goal of our women’s organization is to secure invincibility and peace in the world. The strength of society and the character of national life directly depend on the quality of consciousness of the women of the nation. It is through our own growing personal harmony and enlightenment we will most effectively transform the world.

Women are the mothers of all humanity. Women who learn the TM technique are increasingly better able to guide the world because they are evolving their ability to spontaneously and naturally create a unifying influence.
